In yesterday's entry, we talked about the young millionaires who made their fortune on the web. The founder of sitepoint really drove home the point when he said he is irritated by the excuse that it takes money to make money. He said the key to riches is by creating massive value by fulfilling a need that no one else is taking care of. With that in mind, what is a need I could fill that really is not being met in my life?
1.) I like to keep track of what I eat. It takes a lot of time planning out what to eat and what I can eat.. If there was a way that could save me time or money on this time of idea, I would really like it. I have often thought of creating a cookbook of my favorite healthy and easy to make foods. I like the idea of having a website where you follow the eating plan with the rest of the members. It might be kind of cool each day. Maybe instead of doing it on the website, I could set it up for people to follow along with their own buddies. These plans would include a list of what to buy for your grocery list. It would also be cool to have a section of the website where people could put their recipes by uploading a video.VirtualChef.com (which is taken).
2.) I feel like sometimes it's hard to find people like me with my current social situation. It would be nice to have a place for people my age to actively hangout freely and comfortably. It seems like in town it is very hard to just go and hang out unless you're getting drunk and such. I don't have any immediate ideas that would make money. Maybe a coffee shop that has a ton of influence on socializing. Like a facebook for local coffee shops or something - I'm not sure.
3.) I have some repairs on my car. I am very hesitant at taking them in because they may be very expensive but truthfully, I don't know how much they would cost. For example, I have a dimmer switch inside my dashboard which it makes it near impossible to see my gauges at night. It maybe a quick and cheap fix. So, maybe there could be a website that could give you free online auto estimate from mechanics.
Well, there are some interesting ideas I can develop for relatively cheap. I think each one of these as a website would be semi-easy and very cheap to develop. Although it may take a lot of time, it's worth it just to get the experience and therefore education. My goal write now is to develop an idea I think is worth trying and then go for it full tilt. The idea is to put it up for a year and gain experience getting traffic to a site and seeing if I can turn it into an asset that generates money for me. I will design the site with that in mind.
If you have any ideas, please share them below. Make sure that the need relates to you or something you see happen constantly around you and is not being met for some reason.
Til tomorrow...
Josh
